Managing Micro Edge Policies in ETM Dashboard: Rules
Overview
ETM Dashboard enables centralized configuration of individual Rules. As these rules are created in ETM Dashboard itself, they do not require access to any specific Micro Edge appliance to configure. Policy Rules can be deployed to any Micro Edge associated with your account as part of a Micro Edge Policy.
Types of Rules
When creating a new Rule, you'll select a type of rule from the drop-down menu:
- Security Rules are generally used to create simple 'accept' or 'block' conditions. These currently exist in Micro Edge as 'Filter Rules'.
- Routing Rules are WAN Rules: Configuring WAN Rules in Micro Edge
- Network Rules include NAT rules, Port Forward rules, and traffic Shaping rules
- Services Rules create rules in a particular service: Web Filter, Threat Prevention, and so forth
Managing Rules
The main table lists all Rules you've created, along with details about what each rule does and which Policy it is part of. You can click any Rule to access its Edit Rule menu.
Creating Rules
- To create a new Rule, click + Create New
- Select the type of Rule you are creating from the drop-down menu
- In the Create Rule menu, add one or more conditions to specify the traffic that your Rule should match
- Choose the action your Rule should take upon matching traffic
As each type of Rule has different conditions & action types, each will have a slightly different Edit Rule menu. For example, Services Rules apply a Template to matching traffic, while Security Rules can take 'accept' (allow), 'reject' (deny), or 'drop' (block) actions.
Deleting Rules
To remove Rules, click the Delete … button from the main listing. This will populate a column of checkboxes: add a check one or more Rules and click Delete to remove all selected rules.
You can also delete an individual Rule from its Edit Rule menu via the Delete button.
