Database errors

If the NG Firewall is unable to connect to the Postgres database, you will see a database connection error alert when logging into the UI of the NG Firewall, or when attempting to open a report.

This can occur for a few reasons, but the most common is the hard drive running out of space. If your NG Firewall recently ran low on free disk space, you can rest assured that this is why you cannot connect to the database.

No matter what the reason for the lost connection, there is only one fix. If you have SSH/CLI access to your NG Firewall, you can reinitialize the database by running the script located at the bottom of this article.

If you do not have SSH/CLI access to the NG Firewall, or you have not recently had a low free disk space issue, please contact Support for help resolving this issue.
