Using a test Policy for troubleshooting

If you believe that one of the applications is causing a problem that you are experiencing, rather than turning off the applications (which can cause other issues), here is an easier way of determining which app is causing the issue:

  1. Create a new policy (Apps > Policy Manager > Policies). You will want this test Policy to be a child of the Policy that you are troubleshooting.
Set up multiple Policy Manager rule sets for different users?

  2. Move the IP of your test device to this new Policy (Apps > Policy Manager > Rules).

  3. Test the traffic that you are troubleshooting by adding apps, one at a time, after each test. When adding the apps, you are doing the same as disabling them in the parent Policy. This is a great way of determining which app is causing the issue that you are troubleshooting.
