What are static DNS entries?
If you have a particular device that always has the same IP address and you'd like to be able to refer to it by name — for example, to type its name into a browser's Address bar and reach the device — you can create a static DNS entry for it. This will tell the DNS server 'if you see this DNS name, that means this IP address'.
For example, the rule below would point all traffic destined to server1 to 192.168.2.100:
