How To Update Your OpenVPN Certificate

Overview

If your NG Firewall has recently updated and your OpenVPN is no longer connecting (or connects but is behaving strangely), there's a simple solution: you'll just need to uninstall and reinstall the OpenVPN app on that NG Firewall. More details, including the reasoning behind it, are outlined on our forum in this thread: https://forums.untangle.com/openvpn/41309-notice-long-time-openvpn-users.html

This can also be used to address PCI scan results which note that the OpenVPN certificate is invalid or has inappropriate start or end dates.

IMPORTANT: You will need to redeploy any client configuration files after you have reinstalled OpenVPN. You can use the Export button at the top right-hand corner of the Server tab to export a list of your clients before uninstalling, then use the Import button to re-import it after reinstalling:

To uninstall OpenVPN, click the 'Remove OpenVPN button in the bottom left-hand corner of the OpenVPN status page:

…then, from the main Apps page, click 'Install Apps' in the top left-hand corner and select OpenVPN to reinstall it:
