How to take a screenshot for Support
Overview
Sometimes Support will need to see what you're seeing on a device other than the NG Firewall itself. In those cases, screenshots can be extremely helpful! There are a number of third-party applications that you can use, but this article will cover just the basic options built into common operating systems.
Windows has a built-in utility called the Snipping Tool, which you should be able to find in your Start menu by typing 'snip'. In the tool itself, click New to start capturing:
Click and drag around the area of the screen you need to capture, then release the mouse button to capture. The Snipping Tool will automatically open an 'edit' window; from there, click File > Save As:
Give the file a memorable name and save it somewhere you can find it again.
In Apple macOS, press Shift-Command-4. Drag to select the area of the screen to capture. After you release your mouse or trackpad button, find the screenshot on your desktop.
The process to take screenshots on Linux differs by your distro. This article has some suggestions that may be useful: https://www.howtogeek.com/268036/how-to-take-a-screenshot-on-linux/
On an Android mobile device, hold the 'down volume' button and the 'power' button at the same time.
On an iOS device, press both the sleep/wake button and the Home button simultaneously. Once your iOS device recognizes the screenshot command, the screen will briefly flash white, as if a camera flash went off.
