Virus Blocker update in version 17.5

Overview

Beginning in version 17.5, Arista NG Firewall utilizes exclusively ClamAV for perimeter antivirus and malware detection, replacing Bitdefender in the Virus Blocker app. This update maintains effective gateway-level protection against known threats while optimizing system efficiency and aligning with modern multi-layered security practices. 

Customers upgrading from previous versions will be switched automatically from Bitdefender to ClamAV within the Virus Blocker app. Virus Blocker lite is no longer available as it has been merged into Virus Blocker. Virus Blocker is no longer a paid app.

IMPORTANT!

Customers who do not upgrade to 17.5 or newer can continue to use Virus Blocker powered by Bitdefender until December 31 2026. After this date, customers who do not wish to upgrade may switch to Virus Blocker lite to maintain gateway virus filtering.
